Costco Recruiting Team Text Scam - freddyjohn - 07-04-2025

The short answer: Any text from a “Costco Recruiting Team” offering flexible remote work and huge pay is almost certainly a scam.

What the Scam Text Looks Like
Common examples reported by victims include:
Quote:“Hello, from the Costco Recruiting Team. Your profile caught our attention… flexible 60–90 min/day, 4 days/week… $250–$500 per day, $1,000 per 4 working days… send text for more info.”
Almost identical variants appear frequently, convincing unsuspecting job-hunters—often requesting contact via SMS, WhatsApp, or Telegram.

Why This Is a Scam
  • Costco itself confirms: these messages are unauthorized. They warn the public not to click links or reply to recruiter texts.
  • Real recruiters don’t send unsolicited messages with vague job titles or high pay—nor do legitimate HR teams use generic SMS numbers or WhatsApp.
  • Community warnings: on Reddit and LinkedIn, users consistently report that such texts are impersonal, vague, and typical of task/payment scams.

What You Should Do
  1. Don’t reply or click any links.
  2. Block the number to prevent future contact.
  3. Report it to the FTC or local consumer protection agency.
  4. Verify genuine opportunities by checking Costco’s official careers website or trusted job portals.

Real Recruiting Practices at Costco
  • Legitimate recruiters don’t text unasked.
  • Official job postings are on careers.costco.com, often requiring applications and structured interviews.
  • A real recruiter will contact you via email from a verified corporate domain or a corporate phone call—not SMS from micro carrier numbers.

Summary
Texts from “Costco Recruiting Team” offering easy remote work with high pay = scam.
Ignore, block, and report—don’t respond or share info.
